Nightlase Snore Therapy in Dublin

Nightlase Snore Therapy in Dublin

It is estimated that 45% of the adult population snores in the U.S. Of these adults, about 33% are affected by sleep apnea. This makes snoring a national disease.

Why is snoring a problem?

Anyone who has been sleeping next to someone who snores understands the problem of snoring. Snoring affects not only the person who snores, but snoring also affects their partner and family members. Many relationships are destroyed or stressed due to snoring. What many do not know is that snoring also causes many physical and health problems such as:

  • Cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension
  • Sleepiness and fatigue during the day
  • Morning headaches
  • Impotence in men
  • Depression
  • Due to fatigue, snorers are seven times more likely to be involved in car accidents.

If you aren't getting good, healthy sleep because of constant snoring or sleep apnea, there is a revolutionary new treatment that can help you (and your partner) get the restful sleep you need!

We offer Nightlase Therapy, a non-invasive, non-surgical laser treatment for increasing the quality of your sleep. Nightlase reduces the effects of sleep apnea and decreases the amplitude of snoring by means of a gentle, laser induced tightening effect caused by the contraction of collagen in the oral mucosa.

It's Simple, Safe, and Effective. Nightlase requires no device to be worn during sleep and involves no chemical treatment. It's a gentle and easy way for you to regain a good night's sleep.

So how can River Park Dental help? We are the first in Central Ohio to provide Nightlase Therapy!

Nightlase is a non-surgical, non-invasive way of increasing the quality of a patient's sleep. Nightlase lessens the effects of sleep apnea and decreases the severity of snoring using gentle, superficial laser light. Nightlase treatment causes a tightening of the soft palate and surrounding tissue which leads to a reduction in the sound of the patient's snoring and a lessening of the effects of sleep apnea. Research has shown that Nightlase reduces and attenuates snoring and provides an effective, non-invasive way to lessen the effects of sleep apnea. Nightlase requires no device to be worn during sleep, involves no chemical treatment, and no anesthesia. It is gentle and easy for the patient and their loved ones to regain a good night's sleep.

You need at least five treatments, each about 30 to 60 minutes, and then you can eat, drink, talk and live a completely normal life immediately after the procedure. This is quite different from the painful surgical procedures with long recuperation times which are currently offered options along with occlusal splints, oxygen masks, or other inconvenient and impractical equipment needed at night.

Every patient is different but we have found that for many, Nightlase can provide you with restful sleep for up to 6 months to a year.

The time it takes for collagen in the mouth to regenerate and to tighten tissue after being exposed to laser energy is 21 days. To maximize Nightlase therapy, we must slowly build on the collagen regeneration process every 21 days. If sessions are skipped or missed, the collagen will not additively build up. You will start to lose collagen after 21 days which will not maximize the results you desire.

Nightlase is not a cure for sleep apnea. It will however open your airway and help reduce symptoms related to sleep apnea. Studies have found that multiple sessions of Nightlase has brought down a patient’s Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) to a healthy range. We still recommend you seeing your sleep doctor and checking your AHI to make sure you stay in a healthy range.

Each session lasts from 30 to 60 minutes.

While most patients do well with 5 sessions, some require more sessions to achieve further therapeutic effects. Some factors that may affect the length of treatment is the size of your tongue and the length, width, and laxity of your soft palate.

There are virtually no risks or side effects of having Nightlase Therapy other than possibly experiencing a dry throat for a few hours after treatment.

Every person is unique, however, Nightlase has been shown to be quite effective. Some patients may need more sessions to get the complete therapeutic effect.
